The Civic Engagement Committee develops programming and educational campaigns in alignment with the National Urban League agenda that increase awareness of political, economic, and social issues that affect the African American community.

Community Service Committee

The Community Service Committee sets the agenda for the organization’s service to the Urban League of Greater Pittsburgh and creates other service opportunities throughout the year. Members of this committee must remain in the know around  ULGP events and other events in the community that support the movement.

Meetings: 2nd Saturday of every month

Fund Development Committee

The Fund Development Committee assists the Treasurer and President in creating partnerships with companies in order to gain sponsorships, holds events with the purpose of raising funds for the chapter, as well as comes up with ideas for the chapter to obtain funds in other ways (i.e.. selling T-shirts). Members of this committee should have an interest in finance as well as budgeting.


Health & Wellness Committee

The Health and Wellness Committee is responsible for holding events to educate ULYP members and the community on how to stay healthy, mentally and physically. The committee will also host events to keep members active and engage the community. Members of this committee should have a passion for fitness, health and total wellness.


Membership Committee

The Membership Committee oversees the attraction, retention, and increased participation of membership in the organization. This committee is constantly looking to gain new members that understand the movement and is crucial to the growth and future of the chapter. Members of this committee should have a firm understanding of the ULYP movement and enjoy building relationships.

Public Relations Committee

The PR Committee develops and manages the branding and web presence of ULYP-GP, including, being active on social media (ex: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and LinkedIn), keeping the website current and up to date, and sending all e-mail blasts, etc. The committee is also in charge of reporting ULYP events to local newspapers, magazines, and radio stations. Members in this committee should have a strong sense of branding and public relations skills.

Professional Development Committee

The Professional Development Committee develops programming and provides opportunities to enhance the professional skills, knowledge, and expertise of the membership and community. Members in this committee should have a passion for career development.

Social & Cultural Committee

The Professional Development Committee orchestrates cultural and social events geared towards retaining and recruiting new members while raising money towards ULYP-PGH. Members in this committee should have a passion for expanding our cultural mind and finding new hidden gems around the city.
