Desmond grew up on Pittsburgh’s east end in Homewood-Brushton, up from Hamilton and North Lang, on a street called Parklane Drive.  He was fortunate to have two parents actively involved in my home.  Both of my parents emphasized academics and pride in heritage.  It wasn’t until he got older that he realized how much their efforts insulated me from many obstacles.

A product of Pittsburgh Public Schools, he attended from elementary to high school.  In 2007, he earned my Diploma from CAPA High School—majoring in Visual Art, and completing the Center for Advanced Studies Curriculum.  During Junior year of High School, he developed an interest in Architecture after being exposed to a program designed to foster high school students’ interest in the field.

Fall of 2007 he went on to attended Hampton University for Undergrad and despite initially planning to study Architecture, was swayed to enter as a Computer Science Major after a discussion with the Department Chair.  Nonetheless, after taking a Marketing elective, he developed an interest in Business and majored in Marketing.  He resolved that this field fit best.

In 2011, he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Business and a Concentration in Marketing.
At HU he learned a great deal about my field, life, and African-American history.  This was a growth experience that shaped my perspectives on society and the issues surrounding it.  His college experience also helped develop positive relationships that will hopefully last a lifetime.

Most recently, he earned a Master’s of Science in Computer Information Systems with a concentration in Project Management from Boston University’s Metropolitan College.

Currently, he contract for Philips Healthcare as a Business Analyst using my project management degree and PMI CAPM certification in requirements gathering for new initiatives and process improvement.  He is a sports-enthusiast, supporter of the arts, and an avid volunteer—devoting time to Big Brother’s Big Sisters, and of course the Urban League Young Professionals (ULYP) of Greater Pittsburgh. My contributions to ULYP are primarily within the Public Relations committee through Graphic Design, which he also does on a freelance basis.
